Visa Income Threshold Calculator

Some routes test monthly income and some let savings count towards it at a set rate. Enter the requirement you were given, your own income and the divisor that applies.

Qualifying monthly income—
Surplus or shortfall against the threshold—
Months of the requirement covered by savings—

The divisor and the definition of acceptable income are set by the route and the authority, and they change. Enter the rate stated in the official guidance for your application rather than a rate from a blog or a forum.

How savings become monthly income

Some schemes do not compare your salary with the threshold directly. They add a fraction of your savings to your monthly income, or divide savings by a number of months so that a lump sum counts as a monthly amount. The divisor is the conversion rate.

A lower divisor makes savings count faster and flatters the result. Use the divisor your route specifies, not the one that produces the answer you want.

Read the surplus and the shortfall together

A positive surplus is the margin above the test; a negative figure is the gap. The gap matters more than the headline, because it tells you how much more income or savings the application needs before it can be made.

The runway figure shows how many months of the full requirement the savings alone would cover. It is a planning number, not a promise that the authority will accept those savings.

Frequently asked questions

Does every route count savings?

No. Some test income only, some accept a savings balance, and some accept a combination with a stated rate. Check the rule for your route.

Should I use gross or net income?

Use the measure the authority specifies. It is often a gross figure for a salary but can be net for self-employment, and the evidence required differs.

Why is my surplus different from my bank balance?

Savings are converted by the divisor, not added in full. The calculator shows the converted figure, which is the one the test uses.
